Theme – “A Child-like Christmas”.  Line-up at Rose’s parking lot, 1:30-2:30 PM.  Enter on Robinson Road from North Main Street.  All parade entries must be fully decorated and all passengers on the float when entering line-up.  No candy can be thrown from floats.  Groups walking in the parade will gather are the Marion Community Building parking lot.  For more information – 828-652-2215.

Labor Day Concert, 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Monday, September 1, Depot

                                  EDDIE GRAHAM – THE JAZZ MAN

 Eddie Graham spent 15­ years in Las Vegas where he accompanied performers as diverse as Sammy Davis Jr. and Elvis Presley.

 

                                                TERRY McKINNEY –

Terrry has devoted his musical talents to keeping the heritage of mountain and traditional country, gospel and bluegrass music flourishing.  This is evident through his work. he has recorded several albums through the years.  He is a featured performer at the Historic Orchard at Altapass.

 

The Annual Labor Day Concert at the Historic Marion Depot is scheduled for 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Monday, September 1, on the lawn at the depot.  Marion entertainer Terry McKinney and Jazz Man, Eddie Graham, will be performing in this special “end of the summer” concert.  Bring chair or a blanket and enjoy this once in a life time concert by two great performers.  In case of rain, the concert will be inside the depot.  For more information, call 828-652-2215.

First Friday Concert, September 5, 2008

                      Scott Davis and the Scott Davis Band

The last First Friday Concert of 2008 is Friday, September 1, 7:00 – 9:00 PM, Main Street in downtown Marion.  A car show will be from Court Street to Fort Street.  Call if you want to participate in the car show, 828-652-2215.

Bring your lawn chairs and your country music dancing shoes to enjoy the Scott Davis and the Scott Davis Band.  Enjoy the cooler weather with some good country music.

The Scott Davis Band  Performs about 80% country with a little classic rock and beach music.

Instruments include: rhythm guitar, lead guitar, drums, slide guitar, steel guitar, dobro and bass guitar.

The First Friday concerts are organized by the Downtown Promotions Committee.  Food and beverages will be available. In case of rain, the concert will be at the Greenlee Theatre at MACA.

Brother Dave Band is an original, roadhouse, rockabilly band that will leave you singing, dancing and laughing.

 

Collectively the members of Brother Dave have shared the stage with such greats as Etta Baker, Chet Atkins, Edgar Winter, Rick Derringer, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Jack Lawrence and Warren Haynes. The diversity of their individual backgrounds creates a musical event that is unique. They have released two well-received CD’s – Boiled Peanuts and Brother Dave Live at the Double Door. Catch them at clubs, restaurants and festivals all over the east coast!
